pAt 0500On one of the coldest mornings seen in many years with the temperature at 6 degrees Alexis Volunteers were alerted to a chimney fire in the 4800 blk of Hwy 27 just before the Gaston Lincoln line. Engines 201 and 200 arrived to find a single story brick structure with smoke showing from inside the structure. Engine 201s crew entered the structure to investigate while Engine 200 established an water supply. The crew inside found fire inside the wall around the chimney and started tearing out. As Engine 203 arrived on the scene Command saw the fire break through the roof. Engine 203s crew entered and started pulling ceiling and found the attic about 50 involved. The fire was brought under control within minutes but had an extensive overhaul operation. Units from Lucia-Riverbend East Gaston and Stanley Fire Departments were held for manpower to assist with the overhaul. All units were back in service at 0800hrsp
