The Gaston County Fire Marshals Office along with the New Hope Volunteer Fire Department regrets to inform you of the passing of Mr. Albert A. Ab McGinnis. Ab was a former Fire Chief for the New Hope VFD and was the first full-time Fire Marshal for Gaston County. Mr. McGinnis was instrumental in the establishment of many of the Volunteer Fire Departments that are still in operation today and laid the foundation for the County Fire Marshals Office. He will be missed greatly by his brothers in the fire service. Ab will be honored by firefighters from across the county with a foot procession to his internment at the Bethesda Methodist Church cemetery in Gastonia. Please find the funeral arrangements below.
