A Gaston County School Bus carrying 26 students caught fire at the intersection of Alexis-High Shoals Rd and Narrow Gauge Rd. The fire started from a flat inside tire on the right rear of the bus. The driver acted quickly in getting all the students off and away from the bus before the flames engulfed the inside. Engine 201 arrived to find heavy fire and smoke showing. Engine 201s crew of three pulled the front jump line and made a quick knock down of the fire. the fire was brought under control within 10 min. of our arrival. Command checked on all the students and the driver to make sure all were accounted for. Thanks to the quick action of the bus driver there were no injuries. Alexis units operated on scene for about an hour before returning to service. Engine 203 also responded with manpower and water.
