Just hours after Alexis volunteers settled down from a long day of training firefighters from Alexis and East Lincoln responded to a structure fire on Saturday evening around 930 p.m. on Hillsdale Lane off Old Plank Rd in our Lincoln County first due. Engine 201 and Engine 33EL arrived on the scene to find a mobile home with heavy fire and smoke showing. Engine 200 and Engine 203 arrived shortly after along with Engine 32EL. The home was located off of a long dirt road without hydrant access which necessitated the call for extra fire equipment to feed water to the scene. Lucia-Riverbend and Punkin Center VFD was also called to assist with a tanker and brush unit along with Brush 207 due to a grass fire that was started by the structure fire. Firefighters were able to salvage a portion of the home and the familys fire safe was salvaged along with other items from the home. The Lincoln County Fire Marshals office was called in to investigate the cause of the fire. The cause is still under investigation.
