GASTON COUNTY – Three volunteer firefighters were burned Friday afternoon while battling a gas fire following a car crash in Gaston County.According to Gaston County Emergency Medical Services a car hit a guide wire to a power pole at 121 p.m. The power line then broke and sparked a grass fire. New Hope volunteer firefighters worked to extinguish the grass fire but they didnot realize an underground gas line had also ruptured. One firefighter suffered second and third degree burns to the right side of his face. Another suffered second-degree burns to his face and a third suffered first-degree burns on his neck. All of their injuries are considered not life threatening. The fire burned for a while until the gas company could turn the gas off.
